30 Things You Should Never Compost or Recycle
Composting is an economical, green way to fertilize your garden, and it is essential for homesteaders to know how to properly compost. Most homesteaders are pretty isolated, so it’s is very inconvenient and expensive to go out and buy fertilizer. Another thing that some new homesteaders don’t realize when they decide to live off the grid is that they are completely responsible for their trash. What isn’t biodegradable or good for compost needs to be hauled to the dump or recycling center.
Mother Nature Network has a list of things that should never be recycled or composted. As much as we want to use green practices, some things are just unsafe for composting or recycling. It’s an interesting list, as not all of us realize that just because something is natural doesn’t mean it’s appropriate for composting. Don’t make the same mistake I did and support a roach colony with some stale birthday cake!
