One of the long-standing tactical and urban survival techniques known as the grey man might be changing radically. It might be a lot different than it was in 2019 and its important that we stay on top of these things. You see, we have not come to grips with the speed through which technology is advancing.
Rather, we are trying to operate in the same way we did last week while tech is 100 years ahead and moving at a rapid pace. How does this all affect grey man? Well, let’s think about it.
How much longer will you be able to blend in with a crowd or go unnoticed. The world is covered with cameras and its only a matter of time before they are all outfitted with facial recognition. That’s not an if anymore, its a when. We are talking factory standard facial recognition on all cameras.
If you are going grey to run from anything it will be nearly impossible. The day will come where smartphones will be able to shine on you for only an instant and reveal everything about you. How do you think that will work in the divisive and violent political and social age that we are moving into?
So, how do you act as an effective grey man in the 21st century? Well, a lot of it has to do with understanding your actions and movements. It has to do with keeping your face covered and being someone else or even being a shadow.
Many of the basics of grey man will still apply but you might need to consider nuisances like your walking gait and how that could tracked or discerned by technologies. Of course, the idea of OPSEC is slowly disappear and you will really only have one choice when it comes to your preps.
You must either commit to a life of OPSEC that could be dark and lonely or you embrace being a prepper and walk forthrightly against all odds.
Bonus: How to Make Pemmican, the Original Survival Food
Invented by the natives of North America pemmican was used by Indian scouts as well as early western explorers.
Native Americans spent a great deal of time on the go and depended on having portable, high-energy, highly nutritious, and filling foods that would last for long periods of time without refrigeration.
Pemmican is a portable, long-lasting, high-energy food. It's made of lean, dried meat that's crushed into powder and mixed with hot, rendered fat. This makes it one of the ultimate foods to have stockpiled for when SHTF or disaster strikes.
People really should avert their gaze from the modern survival thinking for just a bit and also look at how folks 150 years ago did it.
These guys were the last generation to practice basic things, for a living, that we call "survival skills" now.
