Step by Step

  1.  You are going to need to source your straw bales from somewhere
  2. Get them home and position them in your yard where they will get maximum sun
  3. Using a blade you are going to cut out a section or a few depending on the plant you are growing. 
  4. Fill those holes with some quality soil 
  5. Add your plants to that soil 

Tips

  • Your soil is a starter. As the straw breaks down it will feed your plants, as well.
  • You may need to add nitrogen or fertilizer as the time goes on. Do this if your leaves turn yellow. 
  • Straw bales will require plenty of water in the heat of summer.
  • Plants will grow very fast.
  • Extra straw bales can also be used as archery targets
