It is one of the greatest threats to the whole of the nation.
The power grid has taken the top bill for quite some time. I have heard some of the smartest and most successful people in the country talk about their concerns when it comes to a powerful EMP and the residual effects.
The three main power grids and the incredibly monolithic transformers that are essential to those grids working make up the concerns most people have about vulnerability. There is a reason we rarely hear about the vulnerability of our grid. There is not a lot we can do about it.
You dont have to power through another month with that high electric bill. Off-grid power sources are not just great for grid-down situations but also for saving money and powering your home using things like the sun and the wind.
These technologies are getting better and better all the time. In fact, many people are powering their home with solar and even selling that power back to the power companies. If you have a big solar array you can send that power back to the grid and most electric companies will pay you for that extra energy.
A partially off-grid system has the capability to eliminate your small electric bill by selling that energy back.
There is also something to be said about going without. Sure, having that backup power solution is important but you should also be prepared to do without. Maybe that doesn’t mean doing without all things but you should certainly be prepared to do without some conveniences for a short while.
You will face another power outage in your lifetime. Maybe we won’t see the full grid collapse, hopefully. Be prepared to react when the lights go out. You can make it a situation that is less of a disaster.
