Its hard to deny these animals a place in our life considering we have kept animals for food in one way or another since the Neolithic period. That is a long time to be having things like chickens around!

Now that more Americans are operating urban homesteads and keeping birds, rabbits and even goats, it would stand to reason that we are going to have to consider a new way of living and look back on how to care for our animals. This is most difficult in the winter months. Keeping animals healthy, happy and warm through the winter is critical to your success as a homesteader.
