This was usually done from a canoe or boat and sometimes even from the bank. This is no new method for survival but it is worth talking about.
Since then things have changed. What has changed most is the technology. Now bow hunters have the ability to use serious bows that are capable of accuracy as far as 70 yards. This makes bow fishing even more of a viable option.
While the modern bow can never be as effective a killer as the modern firearm, its got some great benefits. One of the biggest is how quietly it can kill food.

Always Count on Fish
In survival, it is very important to have a food source that you can rely on. Some preppers store food, that is a huge answer. Others depend on skills. You can always count on fish to feed you in a survival scenario. You should have tackle and a means to catch fish.
Fishing tackle is cheap and easy to store.
To best execute at bowfishing you need a body of water where you can see fish. You also need to have fish that are big enough to sink an arrow into. Things like catfish and carp are best for this. If the fish aren’t big enough you are not going to be able to hit them with an arrow.
If you are truly interested in bowfishing you should look into one of the more effective rigs that are for sale today. There are great bowfishing rigs that are all strung up and ready to go.
