There was a time when the worst thing in we worried about sending our kids off to school was the local bully. It was a wedgie.

Bugging Out From School: Build a Kit and Make a Plan That Won't Get Your Kids Expelled - What this says to me is that each situation is unique. A lot of your decision depends on your child, their ages, the faith that you have in your local school system, your location, and the most likely threats in your area. You'll have to put a great deal of thought into this before creating a plan with your kids.

Times have drastically changed. Not for the better. So now we are facing a situation we are dealing with mass shooters in schools and the risk of societal collapse outside of schools. Civil unrest down the street or even on campus!

The time to act is now. You need to talk to your kids and prepare them for what to do if the worst-case scenario occurs.

The School Bugout

We are limited in what we can send to school with our children. We have to be very careful.

However, communicating plans to our kids and acting on them is all possible. These are things that can be practiced and prepared for.

Your child should know where to find you in the event of a bugout from school. You need to identify the right roads to follow and maybe even some rally points where you can meet up.

Between a strategic location and a few strategic times, your child will be better prepared to react in a disaster.

The School Response

Within normal bugout circumstances, you will face no backlash in terms of initiating your plan. However, if your child is at school in a disaster, you will not be able to get them out easily. Children in lockdown are nearly impossible to get out of school even by their parents.

This could pose a real threat to your situation. This is a very personal thing but its worth you taking the time to sit down and talk with your family. If your child does not know what to do they will be led and that could mean being led into harm’s way.

The kids need to be prepared.
