This cooker utilizes the parabola shape, one of the most effective shapes for solar reflectors. The reason for this is, because of its bowl shape, it takes different streams of sunlight and directs them onto one point.

The traditional downside to parabola-shaped solar reflectors, though, is that they’re hard to make, and they’re hard to store and transfer. The umbrella model solves this- It’s already in the right shape, and you can open and close it like a regular umbrella, so it’s very easy to store.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

The items you’ll need are:

1) An umbrella with a diameter of 120 cm or greater.

2) Aluminum foil

3) Glue

4) A metal saw

5) A drill

6) Measuring tape

7) A paint brush with a thin handle

8 ) Scissors

9) A permanent marker

10) A tripod for flower pots, a few inches in height.

11) A dark cooking pot
