Everything You Need to Know About Planting and Harvesting Garlic
Garlic has potent antibacterial, antiviral, anti-inflammatory, and anti-cancer properties in addition to being beneficial for heart health and iron assimilation. You’ll need to do a little research on how to prepare and use these. For instance, garlic is more effective chewed or chopped than whole. One of our favorite books for medicinal plants and how to prepare and use them are the classics by Rosemary Gladstar, co-found of Traditional Medicinal teas, and one of the early “earth mommas” teaching herbal medicine beginning back in the 70’s.
You’ll need to decide for yourself of course because we aren’t able to test products in a lab to verify quality. But we think Dr. Christopher’s Original Formulas Oil of Garlic looks like a good alternate, along with BRI Nutrition Odorless Capsules. Remember, use the real thing whenever you can. Keep alternates for survival backup. And don’t forget the seeds!
If you’re already growing garlic, awesome! Garlic is planted in fall and harvested in summer. Read on to learn everything you need to know to grow and harvest garlic!
