The leaves are changing colors and the weather is cooling down. It’s cooling down more quickly than usual but it’s still only Fall. Though it comes every year it’s still so special.

This is a great time of year to head up to the mountains and look for a good hike. Not only can you take the hiking aspirations with you but also take some survival gear that you want to test out or use.
While many people have a bunch of gear, they rarely use it. How often are you using your water filter? There is no better backdrop to break out that filter than the fire colored treetops surrounding a mountaintop stream. It’s just perfect.
Preservation is also another great thing you can do in the fall. You are going to be dealing with a tremendous harvest and things like pumpkins and apples will be coming into full bore. Making things like pumpkin butter, applesauce and a variety of pickles is a great way to take advantage of the fall as well.
It would be foolish to neglect all the fun that can be had in decorating for the fall season. Be it the Halloween season or the fall decorating in general. There are all sorts of DIY projects that you can get involved with in the fall. Things that use the natural leaves falling all around you.
Of course, from scratch cooking also takes a front seat in the fall as well. The oven has been dormant through the hot months but now its time to make bundt cakes and holiday pastries in the warm oven.
