What About Bugs?
There are very few opportunities for growing and finding high-quality protein in your backyard. Of course, there are always those creepy crawly bugs! Bugs are incredibly nutritious and you can eat many varieties of them.
Bugs are slow and dumb, simply put. That means we can get them very easy. Humans have been eating bugs for a long time. It’s not something new or strange.
Another food in the backyard that is often overlooked is tree nuts. Many people have things like hazelnuts and black walnut growing in or around their home. These nuts are incredibly nutritious and go a long way. Some types of nuts have to be processed and others can be eaten right away.
Get to know the trees around you. There might even be things like hickory nuts and some varieties of these can be eaten.
