It’s tomato season and if you planted tomatoes you have lots of them ripening every day. Maybe you have too many to eat now, so you’re looking for ways to save them for later use. I personally prefer freezing tomatoes, because it’s so easy!
There are many ways to save tomatoes for later. You can:
- freeze them
- make salsa
- roast, then can them
- make sauce
- can them whole, diced or sliced
- dehydrate them
- make tomato jam (have you ever had tomato jam? YUM!!!!)
Of all these methods, freezing tomatoes is the easiest way to preserve them. You can freeze tomatoes whole, diced, sliced, and juiced.
Juicing tomatoes to freeze is my favorite method when I’m busy. It literally takes only minutes to do: wash tomatoes, slice them, whiz them in my VitaMix for 10 seconds (you can use your favorite blender), pour them into my freezer containers and off they go in the freezer.
