Off-grid cooking methods abound. There are a lot more ways to heat and cook food besides simply having a gas or electric stove.
Maybe the most popular is the rocket stove.
What is a Rocket Stove
A rocket stove uses airflow to increase the burn and heat output of normal wood fuel. A rocket stove works similar to a bellows when you are blacksmithing. The air flow increases heat output.
These stoves can be used to boil water and to cook food in an off-grid or survival situation.
A Rocket Stove Fuel Consideration
Rocket stoves burn hot and fast. This means that you are going to go through a lot of fuel. It’s not going to be like a campfire where you can add big logs as fuel. These stoves run on smaller wood and that is part of the process.
The massive heat output comes at the cost of quick burning fuel. So to prepare for that you are going to want a big pile of fuel before you start cooking. If you can make this preparation you will have success with your rocket stove.
6 Different Rocket Stove Plans
So, what type of rocket stove are you going to build? Actually, why stop there? Why not just build all the different types. You can make these things from bricks to old cans. There are a bunch of different builds and we have 6 different rocket stove plans to share with you.
Get out there and try some. Prepping is more about doing than it is about reading. You never know when you might need to fashion an off-grid cooking device from some cans or other scraps. Remember, your ability to boil water will make all the difference in a survival situation.
