Is Your PIC MetaData Showing More Than You Think?

I need to slap my self around the face a few times because I knew about this and forgot all about it. Most of us take pictures on our cell phones and tablets and then upload them straight to social media sites like Facebook, Google+ and Twitter.

Did you know that the photo you take typically contain information about the date and time the photo was taken, camera settings such as aperture and shutter speed, manufacturer make and model (and often the serial number) and in the case of smartphones, the GPS coordinates of where the photo was taken.

So if you announced on Facebook “Now it’s off to work,” a burglar would know that you were not at home and the geotag would also pinpoint where you lived. Same is said if you post pictures anywhere on the net!

Imagine if you took a photo of your child or your wife even your preps and someone wanted to have them or do some harm. I can’t believe how much information you can get from an innocent photo
