One of the burning questions about a disaster is what are you capable of living without.

Life After SHTF: Learning to Live Without - I think its very important to camp and spend time away from your home and your electronics. This will not only help you begin to understand your limitations when it comes to roughing it.

I think it’s very important to camp and spend time away from your home and your electronics. This will not only help you begin to understand your limitations when it comes to roughing it. When you play scenarios in your head you can tend to inflate your possibilities.

Of course, there is no real drill that can be run to prepare you for the time when you really cannot get any more food or anything like that. You cannot fake those feelings and fears that will come when you realize that you are no longer playing the prepping game.

When the time comes for true scarcity, it will be awe-inspiring.

Shut the Water Off

The best exercise you can do to really get a taste of what SHTF will feel like and the severity of scarcity is to shut off the water for the weekend. No tap water for cooking, bathing or using the toilet. Just get a taste of what that’s like for 48 hours and that will change your perspective on some things.

After that, you will be rushing to buy more rain barrels or store more water

Dont Wait for Scarcity

The idea behind prepping is that we are going to be ready for the times when others will have to live without. That is the whole motivation.

Some people look at prepping and survival as a hobby. Once it’s no longer a hobby I worry about these people. The reality is, you need to push all your chips to the center of the table. You gotta live and breathe this stuff or else you will never be ready. ‘

At the end of the day, it all comes down to commitment. Those who commit will be ready.
