One of the most rewarding things I have ever been apart of was raising livestock that produced something for my family to use and eat. Of course, you are not to get too attached to the animals but you are still responsible for taking care of them. Also, following a disaster these animals will be the ones responsible for providing things like meat, fur and other resources necessary for survival.
