How To Make Your Food Stretch And Cut the Waste — There is no denying that food is getting more and more expensive, especially if you want to eat anything resembling healthy food. Meat alone has seen price hikes by well over 60% in the last 4-5 years and people are feeling the strain in their pocketbooks

Deep down, we know that food is power and those who have the food, in times of need, have the power. Those without will be left to do the bidding of the afreomentioned.

Lets look at some methods for stretching food and maximizing your food budget.

Bulk Food Purchasing

When of the best ways to maximize your food budget and get the most out of food is to buy in bulk. The deals are always there and the price is always less.

You can get exponentially more food when you buy it in bulk but you have to know how to store and cycle through it. Food storage is a prepper basic. Bulk foods can go bad if you dont stay on top of them.

Understanding Fillers

The world ‘fillers’ has been demonized by the media and fast food because they have used nefarious ingredients to stretch their burgers and other meats.

Fillers, however, are a pretty common part of cooking. The best example of this is something like a meatball that uses breadcrumbs and eggs mixed with ground meats to create a tender ball that everyone loves. The bread ad eggs are fillers.

Rice is another great filler. The rice can be mixed with ground beef to create a stuffing for things like cabage and peppers.

Mastering Leftovers

Getting a few good cookbooks can make dealing with leftovers a much more successful process. You need a few good salads and stews that can take ingredients easily.

Another big part about mastering leftovers is not mixing all your ingredients. Dont mix the pasta and sauce. Keep them seperate because then your pasta can become a cold pasta salad if you add some fresh vegetables vinegar, olive oil and seasonings.
