Image Credit: cdn.inquisitr.comThe threat from North Korea is real. I have heard numerous pacifists proclaiming that North Korea cannot do anything to hurt us here in the U.S. This line couldn’t be further from the truth.
In its intentions, it’s understandable. No one wants war. That being said, better war than the annihilation of the U.S population. What scares most people is not the mushroom cloud its the EMP.
How do you think America would fair if we lost all power and all electronics for at least 5 years? The best estimates are that 90 percent of Americans would die in the first year. That is an astounding little factoid. Are you willing to bet against those numbers? Keep your head up and keep prepping. The threats are real.
What do we lose in an EMP?
The true effects of the EMP are hard to gauge. Whilst some fiction writers are quick to play the no electricity and no essential services game because it’s interesting and terrifying.
However, some people are saying that the loss of the grid and all power after an EMP is not a 100% assurance.
It’s safe to say that there will be some forms of communications disruptions after an EMP. The extent is unknown but it certainly wouldn’t hurt to have a backup comms plan just in case something like an EMP attack was to disrupt the way you communicate with your family.
Because there will be some disruptions in basic services, we will likely see some form of civil unrest and violence in the streets. This is a two-pronged issue that requires you have some means to protect yourself but also a need to possibly leave and go to a bugout location.
The effects of an EMP are hard to prepare for but there will be some effects. General preparedness will put you in a better place than none at all.
