This is an issue in much of the prepper and survivalist world. This strange idea that our will can overcome legitimate injury or poor training is just as dangerous as not being prepared at all.
I recently spoke with a professional in the preparedness world who had convinced himself that he was superman. This man held an unbelievable idea that because of his will and faith he would not be stopped before his mission was achieved.
This is so scary to me. I think as preppers we must seriously measure our abilities. We should always be measuring and testing. Its the only way to get better.
Finding Your Limits
Because we live in such a sedentary lifestyle we assume that our limits are something of a mystery. Of course, this isn’t true. Your physical limits are very easy to identify.
Jump into a pool. Put your head underwater and hold your breath. In a minute, or a little more you will be faced with a serious physical limit. Hit the road and start running until you cannot, get on a pull-up bar and find your limit there.
The reality of finding your limits is that you must suffer. Your true limits are only reached when you push yourself further than where you are comfortable. That is step one.
The only way you can push past those limits is to find them and stay there. You need to get comfortable with your suffering and push past it. This can make all the difference.
Unfortunately, there is no easy way to breaking down the walls of limitations. It hurts and it takes commitment. There is nothing your WILL can do if you haven’t put in the effort to break down those barriers. Dont count on a survival switches to turn on and change something.
Every day you should strive to be better.
