There is nothing more vulnerable than an infant. Nothing can better motivate you to get prepared like having a child and seeing just how lost they are without you. Our children are capable of next to nothing when they are first born.

Are you prepared to provide for your child in the worst case scenario? What are some items that you are going to want to have on hand? Let’s look at three items and resources, in particular, that are going to make a huge difference. We have a responsibility to our children.

Formula

While most mothers are breastfeeding their infants it’s very important that you have extra formula on hand. There are a number of things that can go wrong in a disaster, not the least of which is the death of the mother. It’s not a pretty thought but it can happen and it happens every day.

Having extra formula is a great move because you can feed your child and you might also be able to help others. Can you imagine the bartering power in having the extra formula?

OTC Meds

Whether you are talking about relief from teething or dealing with a serious fever, you are going to want some OTC meds stored for your infant. If you don’t have these you are going to feel terrible if your child is sick or feeling awful.

Killing the fever and pain in a child gives them the rest they need to heal.

Medical Connections

While it’s great to find a good pediatrician, you want to take this a step further. You need connections with medical professionals or at least a medical professional outside of appointments. In SHTF you are going to see docs and nurses head for the hills or disappear. You will need their guidance with your infant, at least once!
