Test Your Preps – Go Camping!
There are many ways to “practice” prepping but one of the most fun ways is to go camping. Not only can you test your gear, but you can also test your skill at fire-making, cooking outdoors, fishing and a whole lot more.
My wife and I go camping 4 times a year, twice in spring and twice in the fall. We love it. It gives us an opportunity to bond, learn new skills and get off the grid for a few days.
You could pay 500 – 800 bucks to go on a survival course weekend and learn all you need to know but if you don’t keep those skills tested and fresh you will lose the skill.
To save money, my wife and I watch YouTube videos and then replicate what we watched. Sometimes we fail but 80% of the time we succeed and say to our-self “another skill locked up in the skill bank”. So when we go camping we put all of our newly learned skills to the test.
Check out the article from our friends over at backdoorsurvival.com in the link below. Gaye is very knowledgeable and is a great prepper to learn from.
