We have to be careful that we dont all become shut-ins. When you pay attention to the nation and the world stage, as preppers do, it becomes easy to want to run and hide!
It sort of makes sense to leave the civilization behind and become a hermit.
However, that is both unfair to society and ourselves. We need vacations and big events. We need time to balance out the nightmare that can be our fear and paranoia.
All that said, we can still have some pretty preppercentric weekends and vacations.
A simple camping adventure gives you the change to really enjoy the outdoors and play with gear. This is a good deal. If you are looking for an excuse to test your survival might the family camping trip could be that. Just be sure you enjoy yourself and dont turn it into a march of tears.
Staying in a cabin on a lake offers up a lot of opportunities. Fishing is a super prepper skill and you can spend a whole week doing that at a lake. You can cook fresh fish on the bank and enjoy the whole lifestyle of the wilderness.
Take it a step further and find an off-grid cabin!
The bugout itself might be an adventure and a vacation worth having. Ideally, you want to have a “vacation” home that doubles as a BOL. That can really change the game.
Pick the Right Beach
While a beach vacation might not sound like something preppers would benefit from, you might not be looking at the right beach. Sure there are beaches that are riddled with boardwalks, stores, and chaos.
There are beaches out there that are desolate. Give it a try.
Maybe you are on the path to a homestead. Well, no better way to take some time off than on a farm and bed and breakfast. Agritourism is very interesting.
