There are a lot of natural resources out there for you to take advantage of in an SHTF scenario. The most overlooked resource of them all are trees.
How many varieties of trees do you know? Are you aware of the massive varieties that are out there?
Trees can be almost everything for you. Your entire survivability can be given by trees. That is a big statement to make but think about it.
Tree Uses in Survival
- Fuel for Fire
- Bow Drill Fire Starter Set
- Building Materials
- Water Catchment
- Weapons i.e. bows, atlatls,
This native American tribe would have used a number of trees for the listed purposes above, to survive. The reason the Cherokee is so interesting is that they would have used the trees all across southern Appalachia.
That means they used the trees that are from this area to do all of the things above. These Natives would have been a durable group that could fully utilize the natural world around them to survive. These were people who would not walk past a humble tulip poplar and not know 6 different uses for it.
The North American Natives were masters of this natural environment. They were also very generous and helped the Europeans to learn these skills, as well.
This is not something that should be taken for granted. If not for the skills of the Natives the Europeans would have never settled these lands until they could have shipped enough food and medicine to survive on.
Do not stay ignorant about the trees around you. They are tools for all 4 seasons and the trees will be there when you need them most. From heating your home to treating pain, trees can do it all if you know what you are looking for and how to process them.
