The Power’s Out: What’s Your Plan?
You’re sitting at home relaxing when suddenly, the power’s out. Most people simply groan with frustration and complain about being interrupted. The more extreme reactions include freaking out and panicking. The prepper reacts differently to such things. They may be a little put out by the interruption but rarely does a prepper freak out about a loss of power. Normally, the lights are out for a few hours or maybe a day but what about when it lasts for weeks?
Some may ask, “How am I supposed to know how long the power will be out for?” which is completely valid. A good indication would be what is going on around your area. Are you having a big storm? Are you in an area prone to tornadoes, earthquakes, or floods? Most folk who live in such places tend to have some kind of plan and supplies to get through. If the power goes out during some extreme weather, chances are good that it may be awhile before power is restored. Could you make it?
Regardless of how long it may be out, there are certain steps that everyone who calls themselves “prepper” should follow. Having a plan of action when the power’s out helps to keep you focused and in control.
