It goes without saying that learning to make different types of traps will increase your chances of short term and long term survival. One of the best traps is a funnel trap. Funnel traps can be made out of plastic bottles too. These plastic bottle funnel traps are used to catch minnows, crayfish and other small animals. But you can also make larger funnel traps if you want to catch bigger fish.

To make a funnel trap, you will need two cones. One will be larger than the other. The smaller one is open from one end. Keep this opening only a little larger than the animal you are trying to trap. You will need to place bait in the larger cone. Fish will enter through the opening of smaller cone. After entering the trap, fish will not try to get out, although it can. Some of the fish may come out but most of them will not. It’s probably the shape of the funnel which discourages them from escaping.

We have found a very informative piece on how to make the funnel fish trap. It explains step by step how to make the fish trap out of a tomato cage. All you will need for this is a tomato cage and a grapevine.
