What Happens When the Lights Go Out for Good?
Most people have experienced the power going out at least once in their lives. The majority of outages only last a few hours, up to a day or so. Those in areas where storms are prevalent are used to it being out a little longer but what about long term power outages? Are you prepared to be without power for two weeks or more? Do you have any idea what will be happening around you so you can be prepared to deal with that, too?
No one knows exactly what will happen, in what order, or what the final results will be. If they claim to know it all, walk away from that malarkey. There are, however, certain things that are sure to occur after people start to realize there’s no reliable information about what is going on. When stores run out, when FEMA doesn’t show up, when law enforcement abandons their posts to tend their families…things will get much uglier. And much, much faster.
By reading accounts of other places who’ve experienced such events, or by looking at how the human reacts to certain things can greatly help you survive not only a long term power outage – it can help you survive your neighbors, too.
