Most of us don’t have enough fingers and toes on which we can count the many issues that push us to prep. For many who look at a title like this, you may think you are looking at a run of the mill article about EMP, Pandemic, Super Volcano.

Why We Prepare, And What Scares Me Most - The article is looking at technology in a big way. I was very interested in the fact that the author even took some time to explore the growing consensus on universal basic income.

What about technology? What about things like automation? Have you given any thought to how these floods will affect our nations food supply?

Let’s look at some of these more terrifying situations that the future could hold and we better be prepared to deal with.

State by State Collapse

While many people are hot on the topic of a full-scale collapse, we are much more likely to see states that are laden with debt and other risks collapse first. Are you living in one of those states? Even if you pay a little attention to your state’s woes you will know if you are.

It might be time to move.

Automation

People are going to lose jobs and income in the near future. Businesses are already choosing automation over employees and as technology advances and it’s only going to get more effective. Automation is here and it’s not a matter of when.

Will your job be put at risk?

Food Scarcity

We are fat and happy. How could it be that we could ever be considering food scarcity? Well, you can go from happy and fat to starving and dying in a matter of months. We have seen unprecedented crop loss because of the floods in the midwest.

Do you have food stored? Do you have long term food storage? What are your plans if the food prices get ridiculous?

While we are living the life of a feast it does not mean that we couldn’t find ourselves in a situation of famine. Never assume we are in control of this planet.
