Wild Game as a Food Source

A great number of people believe that in a SHTF scenario the populations of wild game will be decimated as people begin to starve. Things like deer, squirrel, and turkey will likely take massive hits from people who know how to hunt them and can have success.

Wild Game as a Food Source - Don't forget to look around as you hunt as you might come across some wild edibles. These could supplement meat or pair well with it.

This strange unfolding of survival hunting will be a wild thing to watch. Additionally, it could be a real horror.

What about those species that are less understood? It’s not as cut and dry as many people would think. There are many people who are not outfitted to hunt at all. There are others that, even when their life depends on it, will simply not get out there and hunt.

Could animals like frog, beaver, and muskrat be around to be eaten? I think it will be very dependent on the local area. There is certainly no harm in following local game populations and getting to know their habits.

Many people can make good on a couple deer for the year and that could be the answer for you. If you have the ability and the resources to hunt and trap wild game, it would be silly not to. Just be careful of what you use when you are doing it.

Guns are loud and while they are a triumphant scream out into the day when you bag a deer, in a collapse a gun is a meal call. People will know what that shot means and they will come to see what they might get their hands on.  Just like wolves on the snowy plains, you may have to be prepared to fight for your kill.

Don’t forget to look around as you hunt as you might come across some wild edibles. These could supplement meat or pair well with it.

There won’t be a lot of room for thoughtful considerations in time of desperation and survival. If we face a SHTF scenario you are going to get food any way you can. Taking down a big deer is not a bad way to live.
