There is no doubt that society would experience a profound change if electricity was no longer an option.
We depend on electricity for so much and you are often ridiculed for preparing in a way that expects a power outage. The population would struggle so much without it yet no one wants to admit that it will go out for extended periods.
It’s a very strange version of denial.
It wouldn’t take long at all for people to lose it. While you might assume that we would eat each other and that would be the main cause of death in a long term grid down scenario, you might be surprised to find out it will be a little different.
It all starts with not having access to clean water. Drinking dirty water will send a rush of gastrointestinal diseases through the population and many will die from this alone. Not to mention dealing with things like pests that carry diseases.
We are going to have no more waste management and that is going to be a massive breeding ground for disease.
With supply chain disrupted we are going to face a tremendous amount of challenges when it comes to feeding people. For those who have not put food up for disasters, they will have to do whatever the people with the food say.
Many will starve.
Many dont consider this but it will take a huge portion of the population. Because of these conditions, many will just shut the lights out on themselves. Many people will kill themselves. Rather than face the terrifying new world, they will end it all.
In some ways, you might not blame them. A long term grid down scenario will be a nightmare.
