Of the many resources your prepare for, water should be way up on the list. While it seems like we could never have a water crisis in this nation, just stop and think about it. You do not want to be the person who is in line to pick up water from a government source or worse.
Every year this nation faces regional water shortages and droughts. These localities do a pretty good job at managing that water shortage. However, what happens when the taps run dry because of disaster. How would you react?
What things do you need to deal with a water emergency in your own life?
Water in Wilderness Survival
In the wild, you are in a unique situation because you only have the water you are carrying to trust 100%. Every other source needs to be modified before drinking. If you are to answer the call for water in the wilderness you are going to need both skills and resources.
- Skills to find water
- Containers to hold water
- Tools to filter water
- Fire or substances to sanitize that water
If you have these skills and tools you will be able to deal with water needs in a wilderness survival situation.
Water in Urban Survival
In urban survival, you will be more reliant on systems as opposed to limited skills and tools. You need a way to catch rainwater in mass. You need a way to filter and sanitize that water on a larger scale.
You should also have a stockpile of water that you have stored on your own. You might also want to seek out a local body of water to source from.
While the scarcity of clean water will be a burden for most, there are steps we can take to be better prepared to deal with this. However, the time to act is now.
