Peasant bread is a no knead bread. I know some people hate no knead bread but this is not your typical no knead bread. It bakes in well-buttered pyrex bowls — there is no pre-heating of the baking vessels in this recipe.
It emerges golden and crisp without any steam pans or water spritzes. Peasant bread is not artisan bread, and it’s not trying to be. It is spongy and moist with a most-delectable buttery crust!
This would be a great bread recipe to have if SHTF, so try making this in different ovens, i.e. sun oven, regular oven, and a wood stove, see how they all turn out.
