Before we get on the topic of recovery from fitness we need to make sure that we are recovering when we need to. It’s easy to fall into the habit of worrying more about recovery and not enough about the actual work you are putting in. Be sure that you are in need of recovery and not just being gluttonous and lazy.
With the disclaimer aside we can get winning the battle of recovery.
Preppers for a long time have tried to ward off fitness and lean on guns and supplies instead. Fitness is a critical part of being prepared from the standpoint of health and strength. Its so important that you take this seriously because you wont be able to buy fitness, it has to be earned.
With all the working out and running comes pain and fatigue. Every time you workout you break your muscles down and deprive your body of fluids. Those are the two biggest things to understand when you are considering recovery.
When you sweat you lose water and minerals. For those who replenish fluids using only water are not completely hydrating the body. You have to replace those minerals, as well. There are a number of options out there from Gatorade to dry powders or disks that can be dissolved in regular water.
When recovering your body is going to need that kind of rehydration, not just water.
Building Back Muscle
While people think that building back muscle is all about protein, you also need carbs, soon after a workout, to keep your muscles from breaking down even further. Eating high quality protein is very important to recover but so is rest and stretching.
Rest doesn’t mean take the rest of the day off, it means getting to bed early and letting your body heal while you sleep.
Don’t give up on prepper fitness. You will reap so many rewards if you are in shape!
