I want to start off by saying I have never tried to skin anything. I know I need to learn so that’s why I went hunting for some good information on how to skin animals that I may most likely come across in a SHTF situation. They are Deer, Elk, Goat and Sheep.
Skinning takes skill that you probably could pick up after a few skinning tests, I know that a few wrong moves with the knife and you could have a badly cut skin with to much meat left on it or you accidentally cut the stomach or intestines and the juices get all over the skin.
Here is a video that shows you how to skin a deer really fast. This is how I would like to skin a deer.
If you want to keep the meat (I think this is quite obvious you would) and be able to get the skin off with ease you need to know how to hang the carcass to achieve this.
braintan.com has a great article on how to do this properly and also shows you how to skin the animals too. I would recommend bookmarking the page as it could be handy to have available when you need it. Check it out in the link below 🙂
