Do you hunt? If you are into prepping and you do not hunt this could be great news. You might ask yourself why it would be great news that you are not hunting.
Its because hunting takes a tremendous amount of skill and experience that will advance your prepping exponentially.
Hunting is a force multiplier if you are a prepper. Truth be told, you don’t have to be a successful hunter to see these benefits either! Still, when you learn the basics of tracking, silent walking, using cover, using camo, understanding wind, waking early and trailing blood these skills all get engaged during a hunt!
There is no way you are going to engage all of the above-mentioned skills without getting into the woods and hunting. It’s hard to believe but you will see a tremendous amount of benefits from just getting out to hunt.
If something bad happens in the backcountry this is what you need.
First Aid Skills and Gear
You have got to have the skills and the gear to deal with serious wounds when you are hunting in the backcountry. If something happens and someone is shot with rifle round or an arrow, you need to stop the bleeding.
Having fire is essential for warming and cooking. You might also use it to sanitize water. Bring a few ways to start fire and don’t forget about the matches and lighter. Keep it simple.
Having plenty of water, access to more water and a means of cleaning that water is crucial. You need a good filter and some sanitizer tabs.
Your shelter is crucial. your ability to pack in a shelter but also create shelter from nature is going to be paramount. Even without fire, a shelter can keep you alive in bad weather conditions.
