A survival map is an important part of any survival kit. There is no excuse not to have one because getting one is quick, easy, and free. Print maps of all areas you may need in the event of an emergency. If you have a bug out route planned, it is a good idea to have maps for the entire route.

At the very least, you want one that covers your home and work. Becoming familiar with your area ahead of a disaster or emergency is always a good idea too. If you wait until you need to use the map during a disaster, you may find a problem with the map or find you are a little rusty in reading maps.
