Are you paying attention to your growing soil? There are a lot of things that can happen to soil in a short time.
If you aren’t paying attention to the PH and the condition of your soil you might be throwing seeds in the ground for no reason.
With compost and amendments, most soils can be made lush and able to grow lots of food. Things like compost and other amendments like azomite will do wonders for tough soil. It will take time. You have to understand that.
If you want a garden now, you can customize that growing soil by building a collection of raised beds. Raised beds are cheap and easy to make.

This is a simple and effective building recipe that will create a raised bed that will last you at least 5 growing seasons.
Cut your lumber into 2 6 foot sections. Cut yourself 2 3 foot sections from the remaining lumber and build yourself a simple rectangle with your screws to assemble. Cut yourself a section of lumber that will fit into the middle of that raised bed for structural integrity.
This piece will cut your rectangle into two even sections. This is a cool way to divide the growing sections of the bed, as well.
You can also add a couple “blocks” created from your leftover lumber that can be drilled in at the four corners of the bed.
