What is all this fuss over the EDC? It would seem that people are hell-bent on carrying a full arsenal on their person these days.
Well, the beauty of that is, we still have the right to do so if we deem it necessary, for now. There are many reasons one would put such an emphasis on having the right items on their person. It could be for work or it could be for the sheer desire of being prepared.
You see, the EDC is more than just a simple set of items that you carry on your person to deal with a problem. The EDC is actually one part of a 3 tiered system to deal with a serious disaster in the event of such, while you are away from home.
If you are at work and something terrible happens, your first response is going to be to get home. You will want to get there ASAP to check on family and be sure that everyone is alright. Well, your EDC is there to assure you can get from your job to your car or get home bag.
If your car is an option it might be your quickest way home. In some cases, it may not and you will call on your second tier in this process, the get home bag. This bag should be equipped with everything you will need to get home safely whether you are travel 5 miles or 50!
Ideally, you want to wind up at home and make your next move from there. That is your third tier. Headquarters and your next step. It might be that you bug in, it could be that you bugout.
