Time with family is just as important as time prepping.
Let’s not beat around the bush on this. We are all very dedicated to prepping and that’s important, however, we are in the business of rearing good people. That is the most important prep of all.
Just putting a backpack on and hitting the trails is an amazing way to enjoy the weekend. If you take your family you can hike trails and see incredible sights.
Trails can be flat or slowly ascending for easy traversing. You can also find trails that basically rock climbing. Its all fun and a great way to get used to carrying your bag.
Getting out and camping is huge. It’s a chance to practice survival skills and play without bugout gear. Camping is also a great way to get your family out of their typical environment and enjoy one another.
If you are new to camping, keep it simple! Dont go hiking 20 miles into a campsite.
There is no easier way of getting food over the fire than via the lakes and rivers. Fishing is both a great family activity in the summer and a powerful survival skill. The better understanding of currents, tides, tactics, and baits the better prepared you will be.
FIshing is also some great fun. Listen, it doesn’t have to be about lunkers and giant bass. You can have a great day fishing for bluegill with the family
The bike is the dark horse when it comes to bugging out. It’s also a beautiful way to spend the afternoon with family. Bikes are great and more excepted on roads and in cities than ever before.
Getting the entire family on bikes and doing a family bike ride can be a great weekend outing. It can also be great training if you ever need to get out of dodge via bike.
