Long before the world falls apart and even before economies tank and markets tumble fortifying your home will take precedence.
For many of us, this issue has already come to be. Many Americans look at the little locks on their door handles and lose sleep. That is because these locks are easily bypassed. Everything you hold dear is within those four walls. Take my word for it. The time has come to harden your home.
So what are those cheap materials that you can use to harden your home with?
Sand
Sandbags have long been a ballistic level cover. This cover allows you to harden any structure from taking serious gunfire. This was true in WWI and is still true today.
Having sand and earthbags on hand will give you the ability to both harden your home from attack and to harden your home from floodwaters. It makes a difference.
Scrap
We have so much in this nation. There are scrap yards filled with metal that can be used to harden your home, as well. You see, scrap is massive and you can get things like the fence to sheet metal that can be used for all sorts of things.
Don’t forget about the scrap yard.
Plywood
Plywood can be had for next to nothing. There is also plenty of plywood scrap around if you go looking. You can buy new sheets but you hardly have to. Cover doors and windows with plywood as a deterrent and a preventative.
Plywood gets a lot done when hardening for things like hurricanes in modern times.
Not only do you want to prepare for your hardening your home but you also need to consider hardening your bugout location. That is a very important thing to carry around in your mind. We are consistently hardening.
