Last-Minute Gifts for Preppers Guide
If you have a survivalist on your shopping list and are not familiar with the prepper community yourself, finding the right gifts for preppers can feel confusing and challenging.
By using this guide as your gift-giving companion, you will take the stress out of your shopping, and maybe even have some fun looking through great survival tools, gear, and gadgets.
The survival gifts I’ve selected match all of the following criteria:
- Durable and long-lasting.
- Practical for not only emergency preparedness but also camping and outdoor activities.
- Useful to both beginners and advanced survivalists.
- Essential tools that your loved one will definitely need in their prep.
- Compact in size.
- Available to ship via Amazon Prime, for last-minute shoppers!
Both beginner and advanced preppers would be happy to add any of these gifts to their collection, even as duplicates, so no need to worry about purchasing your loved one something they already own. Nearly all of these items I have personally bought and tried out, so I’m confident in sharing these recommendations. Happy shopping!
A great emergency go bag is a survivalist’s essential. Different from the bug out bag, this backpack will be used for quick, unexpected emergencies where you’ll need to survive approximately 24-72 hours.
Go bags are lightweight, compact, and great for other uses like hiking, camping, vacation travel, etc.
Gelindo Military Tactical Backpack
This Gelindo Tactical Backpack is great as a day pack or go bag. It features a military-style MOLLE backpack system that is compatible with other MOLLE gear. The MOLLE system allows you to easily attach multi-tools, knives, magazine pouches, and other accessories.
One of the best features is the built-in insulating layer bladder compartment (bladder not included). It will keep 2-3 liters of water cold or warm for up to 4 hours.
4Monster Hiking Daypack
This daypack shrinks down to an incredibly compact size, making it a great bag to put into your luggage and use while traveling. A great bag to keep in your car, keep in a bug out bag prep, and for going on extended trips.
Many people overlook buying a first aid kit, though it’s one of the first things you’ll look for when an emergency strikes. Outside of disaster prep, compact and durable first aid kits are fantastic to have on hand for family vacations and camping trips.
EVERLIT 250 Pieces Survival First Aid Kit
This first aid kit is MOLLE system compatible, making a great companion gift to the Gelindo military backpack mentioned above. The Everlit is more of a beginner, affordable option. This is a great gift for preppers that are just starting out.
Advanced preppers might want to check out the Surviveware large kit reviewed below.
The Everlit includes some bonus essential survival tools, so overall it is a great compact medical kit gift option.
Surviveware Large First Aid Kit & Added Mini Kit
This first aid kit is the more advanced (and more expensive) option for first aid prep. However, it includes some extra features that the Everlit lacks. A larger size, but still very portable and fantastic for keeping in your car.
Water Filtration and Purification
Two options for adding to your prepper’s water filter and water purification resources. Clean water is one of the highest priorities for survival, so your loved one is sure to get good use out of these tools.
Sawyer MINI Water Filtration System
As the name suggests, this gift is a mini water filtration system. A personal water filter is one of the best gifts you can give to preppers. They are critical to have on hand for emergency situations, but also great for camping, outdoor recreation, and hiking, too.
Water can fill into the included drinking pouch. Alternatively, you can use the included straw to drink directly from your water source.
Potable Aqua Water Purification Tablets
These tablets would be used for purifying large containers of water, not drinking directly from a source of running water.
I can confidently say that the tablets work extremely well, having used them many times. But the taste is not great.
Knives with Fire Starters
An essential survival tool, both of our recommendations are from Morakniv, which is one of my favorite brands. Preppers can never have enough knives. They would definitely appreciate receiving one as awesome as either of these to add to their collection.
Morakniv Bushcraft Carbon Steel Survival Knife with Fire Starter and Sheath
The carbon steel material, combined with the anti-corrosive black coating, makes this knife long-lasting and high-quality. Especially useful for bushcrafters, the best feature is the diamond sharpener for honing your blade.
Morakniv Companion Spark 3.9-Inch Fixed-Blade Outdoor Knife and Fire Starter
This Morakniv is more affordable due to the smaller size and downgrade in material (stainless steel). But it’s still a great knife that includes a fire starter that twists out of the handle.
Note that this one does not include a sharpener, so you will want to pair this with one of the knife sharpeners recommended below.
Work Sharp is a great knife sharpener brand, and I personally always carry one of their sharpeners in my go bag.
Work Sharp Guided Field Sharpener
This sharpener has more options for honing due to the leather strop, which allows for really fine sharpening. I’d highly recommend this tool for that extra feature alone. Additionally, it is lightweight and durable so it is easy to carry in a pack.
Work Sharp EDC Pivot Knife Sharpener
Made for EDC (everyday carry), this one is a bit more compact and lightweight, making it the more affordable option. This sharpener might not work on every knife, but it is great to have since it is more portable.
Essential survival tools that fit in your pocket so you can take them everywhere.
Tiny Survival Guide: A Life Insurance Policy in Your Pocket
A wealth of knowledge captured in the size of a credit card. This guide folds open to reveal explanations and illustrations of over 67 essential survival skills, including first aid, fire-making, water filtration, emergency food, and more.
It might seem silly at first, but the “Tiny Survival Guide” will be an invaluable resource during a disaster. Humans tend to go into “panic” mode during disasters, and can easily forget all the survival knowledge they’ve been reading on SHTFPreparedness and other prep websites. And if the internet is no longer a resource, your survivalist will be all on their own… unless their loved one (you!) thought to buy them a Tiny Survival Guide!
Tiny Survival Card: A 17-Tool Survival Kit with Knife That Fits in Your Wallet
Designed for EDC and just as compact as the Tiny Survival Guide, this item includes 17 useful survival tools. Perfect to pair with the Tiny Guide, and Amazon even offers a bundle with a discount for both.
Compact Camp Cookware
I recommend the G4Free camp stove mess kits and have linked to different size and shape options below. Both come with stoves that fit into the kits.
Overall this product is similar to the much more expensive Jetboil, a brand often used by hardcore survivalists, campers, and mountain climbers.
G4Free 11PCS/13PCS Camping Cookware Mess Kit
G4Free 2/4/13 PCS Camping Cookware Mess Kit
Finally, having a source of power is critical to emergency survival.
FosPower Emergency Solar Hand Crank Portable Radio
The flashlight and radio are the most valuable features of this tool. Other online reviewers mention that this FosPower tool requires a LOT of manual cranking to get it functioning. As a result, so I would not recommend purchasing it as a primary means of phone charging.
Solar Panel, Anker 21W 2-Port USB Portable Solar Charger
I’ve had experience with using both of these Anker power options during a crazy snowstorm in my area this year. So I can personally vouch for their effectiveness and value.
I charged my Anker PowerCore (below) in the wall during the “rolling” power outages. and while it was during a blackout, used the solar charger for my phone and other necessities.
This solar panel is great for outdoor recreational use and emergency power outages. It connects to your pack while you’re hiking, and you can charge multiple devices on it at the same time. It is very portable, light, and folds up nicely. It’s great for hiking and won’t weigh you down.
Anker PowerCore Portable Charger
Compatible with the Anker solar panel, making this a fantastic companion gift.
