I am a huge fan of the MAG or mutual assistance group. It is my belief that now is the time for us to be making relationships within the community.

How I Formed A Mutual Assistance Group - This article is great because it represents how we as preppers can take advantage of the greatest resource that surrounds us. This, of course, is the people. We can accomplish much more in a disaster as a community than we can as individuals.

There is such gold left unmined in communities across the nation. We hardly talk to our neighbors and that is one of the great losses of our time. I would like for you to think of it this way: In every home, there is an expert.

In some homes, there are two or more! Why would you not take advantage of their skills and experiences?

The Survival Group

The ideal survival group is going to include people who are willing to go out of their way to help in the worst of times. It’s not a short order! Survival groups take cultivation and effort. There are important things like meetings that should happen in your survival group.

Security in Numbers

The most important part of a MAG is that you have security in numbers. You MAG inside your neighborhood is one of the most important ways you can secure a neighborhood. No matter how much firepower you have you can only carry so much.

You need people because there will be bad people coming after your stuff and your neighborhood. If you dont have people you only have the ability to retreat.

Expectations

One of the toughest things to do with a MAG or survival group is to create expectations. However, if you don’t put expectations on your group it will not go anywhere.

You have to be prepared to meet and help one another. You also have to be ready to face the SHTF situation when it rises. This only comes with some semblance of training.

Expectations also help to weed out those who are not committed. That filtering process is just as important.
