The Different Types of First Aid Kits - The author does a great job at creating lists of different types of kits that can be made and bought. There is also an entire podcast included on the subject as well.

Even something as simple as a hurricane. When you see floods and winds take out power and drop trees in your neighborhood having a first aid kit makes life better. The medicines inside, the bandages and ability to treat injuries from storm cleanup or the storm itself.

Of course, not all first aid kits are created equal.

Let’s look at the variety of first aid kits out there so you might understand which of these is going to work best for you.

The Purpose Driven First Aid Kit

The first aid kit can be built for its use. You can have kits for dogs, kits in the car, kits for kids and each can be built with your loved ones or needs in mind.

Having purpose-driven first aid kits can be a very effective way to be prepared. These basic first aid kits are great for addressing things like simple injury and the symptoms of illness.

The IFAK

The Individual First Aid Kit is meant to aid the person wearing or carrying it. This kit is designed to heal you! Many people consider the IFAK as a means to help others, and it could and should be if you have those items. However, this design is built around the idea that, if you are injured, you can be put back together with the IFAK.

Carrying an IFAK has become a much more popular item for civilians to carry. There are people out there making great medical kits that meet these needs.

The Trauma Kit

The next step up from the IFAK is the trauma kit. This kit is built to stop bleeding and keep people alive until medical help arrives. Trauma kits often focus on things like tourniquets, quick clotting gauze, and chest seals.

Some of the things in a trauma kit may require more training. Be very careful about that.
