Maybe the most terrifying of all SHTF scenarios is the pandemic. It’s so terrifying because you realize that the killer is small, silent and is killing indiscriminately. You are about as helpless to a pandemic, once it grips your family, as can be.
Many believe the pandemic can be something that follows a bigger disaster like an EMP. As society devolves and waste management fails, a deadly virus could rip through the survivors and just cripple what is left of the human race.
Historically, that’s what pandemics do! They are powerful diseases that cover a massive area and do serious damage.
There are three things to consider when you are planning to do battle with a pandemic on a personal level.
If you are dealing with a virus there are two things to consider. Antibiotics will not stop the virus. Your immune system is your only hope. That is good news in some sense.
It means you can boost your immunity before, during an after. You can do this with no cost items like pine needle tea and rose hips or even powdered vitamin C.
If a person gets sick in your home, you need to have an answer by way of quarantine. You will have to create a room in your home that will work as a quarantine.
You need to make the sick person as comfortable as possible and be sure no one enters that room without proper protection to cover the eyes, mouth, and nose. Also be sure you have quarantine shoes that do not track germs all over the house.
When facing off with a powerful virus, hydration is everything. You are going to have to have plenty of clean water and plenty of electrolytes. That combination will keep a patient going and allow their system to fight off the virus.
Its a very scary thing that doesn’t involve guns and body armor but the pandemic can take everything from you in a matter of weeks!
